After teasing the Ferrari SF25 back in September, Kunos Simulazioni has been spotted scanning classic Ferrari F1 cars at the Ferrari museum in Maranello.
What’s Being Scanned
In social media posts, they teased the scanning of the Ferrari F1-2000, which secured Ferrari’s first constructors’ championship since Jody Scheckter’s 1979 title-winning campaign.
A second car can also be seen in the images that were shared, although it’s harder to identify. Based on glimpses of Goodyear tires, and the fiat sponsorship placement on the rear engine cover, it could be anything from between 1985’s Ferrari 156/85 all the way up to the 1989 Ferrari 640. The latter 1990 Ferrari 641 has moved the placement of the Fiat logo further up on the engine cover than what’s seen in the teaser images.
Growing F1 Roster
These new additions will join the Ferrari F2004 that’s already available in early access and the upcoming 2025 Ferrari SF-25. That car being scheduled for the v0.4 update in early December, and update that is also confirmed to bring Monza as well. If these come to fruition, the full release of Assetto Corsa Evo will contain at least 4 F1 cars across a wide spread of ears, meaning almost all sim racers will be able to drive a car they connect with.
Release Timeline Unknown
In the social media teaser, there was no release window announced; however, given that these cars are still in the scanning phase, they likely won’t appear until well after the v0.4 update arrives in early December, and realistically, probably not until Q2 2026. Kunos will need time to process the scan data, build the 3D models, and implement the unique physics characteristics of these historic machines.
For Ferrari and F1 enthusiasts, the addition of these classic cars represents a significant expansion of EVO’s single-seater offerings. The combination of the brutal V10 from the F1-2000 and the wailing V12 of the 641 should provide dramatically different driving experiences compared to the modern hybrid SF-25.
We’ll continue monitoring Assetto Corsa EVO’s development and will provide updates as more information becomes available about these classic Ferrari additions.
