Assetto Corsa EVO Free Roam Gets New Teaser!

The developers of Assetto Corsa Evo, Kunos Simulazioni, have released a new trailer for Assetto Corsa EVO’s highly anticipated free roam mode. Despite still being a work in progress, the video showcases dense AI traffic, detailed environments, and two new cars. The free roam mode is arguably AC EVO’s marquee feature. When it was first unveiled in December 2024, the idea of having a open world set in and around the Nordschleife in Germany was incredibly. However after almost a year, the feature has yet to be added to the Early Access version of the game. The last official update was has was at SimRacing Expo where Kunos indicated an “early 2026” release window.

AI Traffic Gets Significantly Denser

Compared to previous footage, the new trailer shows dramatically substantially increased traffic on the road. One overhead shot of a freeway junction shows at least 20 different NPC vehicles driving throughout the region at a time. Traffic near the Nordschleife appears busy and flowing naturally. However how the AI reacts to players racing around them remains to be seen.

Two New Cars Revealed

The trailer showcases the Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992) Weissach Edition as its main star, shown driving around the Grand Prix loop and through traffic. The 992-generation 911 GT3 RS had been discussed in interviews but this marks its first appearance in action, with the naturally aspirated engine prominently featured.

The second car is the Volkswagen Golf R Mk8, exhaust tips, and rear spoiler. The all-wheel-drive R joins the GTI Clubsport already available in Early Access.

“The Place Where Every Car Feels Right At Home”

The video’s closing message emphasizes AC EVO’s variety featuring contemporary GT3 race cars with ranked daily races alongside free roam exploration in everything from a Lancia Delta Integrale to off-roading in a Ferrari Purosangue.

No specific release date was provided beyond “this year”, something that we find concerning.  You can check out the official video here.
