iRacing has announced a landmark partnership with Cosworth that will bring professional-grade telemetry tools to over 350,000 active iRacers worldwide. The multi-year agreement makes Cosworth an official data analysis partner of iRacing, providing free access to their renowned Pi Toolbox software that’s currently used by top-tier motorsport teams in IndyCar, WEC and more.
This partnership represents another major milestone in what’s been an incredibly busy period for iRacing. Between the upcoming INDYCAR console game set for 2026, NASCAR 25, the highly anticipated Season 4 patch, and the launch of iRacing Arcade, the company has been firing on all cylinders with announcements and releases.
Replacing Community Workarounds
The centerpiece of this partnership is Pi Toolbox, Cosworth’s advanced data analysis software that’s been the backbone of professional motorsport teams for years. Previously, sim racers had to rely on unofficial community-created solutions to use professional data analysis software like MoTeC i2. These workarounds, while clever, weren’t officially supported and required third-party converters to analyze iRacing telemetry data properly.
Now, Pi Toolbox will natively read iRacing’s ‘.IBT’ data files, eliminating those barriers entirely and providing an official, supported solution. “This partnership represents a big step forward in Cosworth’s ongoing mission to democratise data for drivers at every level,” said Florian Kamelger, CEO of Cosworth.
Live Telemetry Coming Later This Year
Perhaps the most exciting feature launching later in 2025 is live remote telemetry support – a first for sim racing. This technology uses the same real-time data transmission systems trusted in elite motorsport series, allowing coaches, teammates, and engineers to receive critical data during active sessions.
The implications are huge for competitive sim racing. Teams will be able to provide real-time feedback during races, analyze performance on the fly, and make strategic decisions based on live telemetry data. It’s the kind of functionality that could fundamentally change how organized sim racing operates at the highest levels.
New Competition Series and Features
The partnership extends beyond just software access. Cosworth will sponsor several new competitive series within iRacing, including the flagship ‘Cosworth Cup’ featuring top-tier open-wheel cars. There’s also a dedicated series planned for iRacing Arcade, which will serve as the ultimate reward tier for that platform.
Custom Pi Toolbox workbooks tailored specifically for iRacing users are also in development, along with educational content including video tutorials and dedicated online resources to help sim racers effectively use professional-grade tools.
Real-World Data Integration
Pi Toolbox will allow direct comparison between data from actual Cosworth-equipped race cars and iRacing telemetry, creating unprecedented continuity between physical and virtual racing. “Our engineers have asked for more powerful tools to develop race cars and better understand complex performance data,” said Tony Gardner, President of iRacing.
The Bottom Line
This partnership delivers exactly what competitive sim racers have been demanding – official, professional-grade data analysis tools without the need for community workarounds. The September launch timeline aligns perfectly with iRacing’s Season 4 update, making this one of the biggest feature rollouts in the platform’s history.
With live telemetry support coming later this year and full integration launching September 16th, this represents a significant step forward for competitive sim racing.
