BRC Goes Digital Again: Probite eBRC Returns with Faster Cars and Tighter Schedule

The Probite British Esports Rally Championship is back, and this time they’re not messing around. After a successful debut season that proved virtual rally racing could capture the same intensity as the real thing, Motorsport UK Esports has announced the return of their official competition with some serious upgrades.

Gone are the leisurely month-long gaps between rounds. The 2025 season is condensed into a back-to-back format that’ll test drivers’ consistency and mental endurance like never before. Starting Monday, August 4th, competitors will face six grueling rounds over six consecutive weeks. It’s a format that mirrors the relentless pace of real-world championship racing, where momentum and adaptability separate the champions from the also-rans.

WRC2 Power Unleashed

The biggest change? Car selection just got a massive upgrade. Last year’s competition restricted drivers to the M-Sport Ford Fiesta Rally3, but 2025 opens up the entire WRC2 class. That means drivers can choose from seven different Rally2 machines in EA SPORTS WRC, each with its own characteristics and handling quirks.

From the nimble Citroën C3 Rally2 to the powerful Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, the car choice adds a strategic layer that didn’t exist before. Will drivers stick with what they know, or will we see someone master multiple machines across different rally conditions? The Hyundai i20 N Rally2 might excel in Finland’s jumps, while the ŠKODA Fabia Rally2 Evo could be the weapon of choice for Chile’s technical sections.

No Second Chances

The competition format remains brutal in the best possible way. Seven stages per round, no stage restarts, one attempt only. It’s the kind of pressure that separates weekend warriors from genuine competitors. You crash on Stage 3? That’s championship points gone. Miss a corner call? Deal with the consequences. It’s as close to real rally pressure as you can get without actually sitting in a roll cage.

Real Recognition for Virtual Talent

What makes this championship special isn’t just the competition—it’s the recognition. The winner doesn’t just get bragging rights; they receive an eBRC trophy at the British Rally Championship Awards alongside the real-world champions. Even better, they get a rally passenger ride, experiencing firsthand what it’s like when the G-forces are real and the gravel rash actually hurts.

This kind of crossover between virtual and real motorsport is exactly what the FIA has been pushing for with their recent additions to the International Sporting Code. The eBRC isn’t just a gaming tournament—it’s a legitimate stepping stone in the motorsport ecosystem.

Championship Battleground

Last year’s champion, Tommi Mäkinen (not that Tommi Mäkinen, though the name certainly carries some rally pedigree), will face a field of hungry competitors across some of rally’s most challenging locations. From Croatia’s technical tarmac to Finland’s high-speed forest roads, each round will test different aspects of rally craft.

The condensed schedule means consistency will be king. There’s no time to recover from a bad round when the next one starts immediately. It’s a format that rewards drivers who can adapt quickly and maintain peak performance under pressure.

How to Get In

Registration is open now through Motorsport UK for members with a Motorsport UK Esports membership. With the first round in Croatia kicking off August 4th, there’s still time to prepare, but smart drivers are already getting their setups dialed in.

The question isn’t whether this championship will produce exciting racing—last year already proved that. The question is whether it’ll produce the next generation of rally talent who might one day make the jump from virtual forests to real ones.

The eBRC is back, and it’s ready to prove once again that when it comes to rally racing, skill matters more than whether your car has a real engine or a virtual one. You can learn more here on the official website.
