Assetto Corsa EVO V0.5 to Add The Toyota AE86!

Kunos Simulazioni has officially confirmed that the Toyota Corolla AE86 will be added to Assetto Corsa EVO in the upcoming version 0.5 update! The announcement came via a series of teaser images showing the legendary 1980s compact car that’s beloved in drift and tuning communities.

When originally launched, the AE86 was available in two body styles—hatchback and coupe. Both versions came with an inline-four 1.6-liter engine up front and rear-wheel drive. Two “faces” were offered: Corolla Levin models featured fixed headlights, while the Sprinter Trueno came with pop-up headlights.

AC EVO’s version appears to be the ever loved Sprinter Trueno coupe in APEX trim with pop-up headlights featuring a white and black color scheme. Something we’re sure everyone can agree is a clear reference to Takumi Fujiwara’s Initial D tofu delivery car. Although we can rest assured that the liveries can be changed.

Kunos confirmed the AE86 will be “available in several versions,”

suggesting multiple variants similar to the Toyota Supra added in December’s v0.4 update, which included a heavily modified drift version alongside the stock car. The AE86 has cult status for its affordable price, sideways handling characteristics, and tunability, making it a staple in drift communities worldwide.

No release window or additional content details for the v0.5 update have been announced yet.
